How To Clean A Rented House

Cleaning a house is always is time consuming. It takes a lot of time and energy to tidy up each room. 

Regardless of whether you are cleaning up before handing over the keys to your current rental, or are ensuring that your new place will be germ and grime free from the start, a thorough cleaning  vanquish dirt and built-up scum from every area of your rental is very important.

1. Living room

1. Clean ceiling and corners by sweeping down the webs and dirt 
2. Cleaning walls – by simple washing of the wall along with the floor using soapy water. To remove the ink stains use rubbing alcohol and crayon marks with Mr. Cleans’ Magic Easer.  If nothing works, repaint the wall to give a fresh look
3. Wipe the switch plates with cleaning wipes. Replace any burned out light bulbs
4. Use a microfiber cloth to remove the dust from doors and windows Clean the  door handles with cleaning wipes
5. Vacuum the carpet and mop the floor. Deep clean the carpet

2. Bathroom 

1. Clean the toilet bowl with generous amount of toilet cleaner. Let it sit for a while before washing it away after brushing
2. Pour the baking soda mixture down each drain. Let it is sit for 5 minutes and run hottest water and clean the drain
3. Clean the shower curtains to remove the mold and mildews
4. Clean the mirror with glass cleaner. Wipe down using paper towel to brighten it
5. Wash the walls with soap and water. Clean the tiles for any molds and mildews
6. Clean the sink thoroughly and throw away the waste in the bin
7. Clear the floor and dry it
8. Check the lighting and fixtures are in working condition

3. Kitchen

1. Kitchen should be the cleanest place in a house
2. Remove all the items from the cabinet and vacuum the cabinets. Also wipe down the 
3. Cabinet fronts
4. Clean the stovetop, oven and microwave 
5. Turn the sink faucet to the hottest setting and let the water run for one minute. Use baking soda to clean the drain. Clean the sink and faucets
6. Clean the countertops
7. Wash the wall with soapy water
8. Clean the doors and window
9. Wipe down the back splash
10. Finally sweep and mop the floor

4. Other rooms: 

1. Check the non-living areas to ensure there isn’t anything to be removed
2. Check the sump pump
3. Check the working condition of the furnace and air conditioners. Replace furnace filter
4. Make sure all the gutters are clean and gutter extension are in place

5. Exterior:

1. Maw law and pull weeds
2. Trim the trees and bushes 
3. Tidy the flower beds
4. Sweep the sidewalks, porch, driveway 
5. Check for any burned out bulbs outside and replace, if required
