A simple way to brighten up any room is to use a glass-paneled door along with glass windows. But the disadvantage of the glass-paneled door is that the sun rays can heat the room. This can be avoided by hanging a curtain from the top of the door. The curtain can eliminate some of the light and heat.

But, when the curtain is simply hung from the top of the door, chances of it getting caught up between the door is high. So, it is better to hang the curtain on the door bottom rod. It will help to keep the curtain from swinging and avoid any damage to the curtain by sustaining it from getting it caught in a closed door.

Things you require 

·      Tape measure

·      Sash rod

·      1/8-inch bit

·      Cordless drill

·      Screwdriver

Method

Measure the width of the curtain rod at the top of the door and purchase the door bottom sash rod in the same width. Pull through the door bottom rod into the hem at the bottom of the curtain and connect the rod mounting brackets to the rod. Now, release the rod freely and let it hold the curtain against the bottom of the door.

Now, hold the bottom rod brackets against the bottom of the door, and mark the mounting holes in the brackets. Install 1/8 inch bit in the cordless drill and use it to create the pilot holes in the door. And disconnect the mounting bracket from the bottom rod. Use the bracket mounting screws to secure the brackets to the bottom of the door. Finally, connect the bottom rod to the brackets to hang the door curtain perfectly. 

Tip on hiding the unused door in the room

The closet doors or the door that adjoin the room that is not frequently used can be hidden using a storage box such as a bookshelf or placing a folding screen in front of it. There are a variety of the folding screens available in the market such as the wooden frames that are lined with fabric, mirror patterned frames, or picture frames that go with any color and décor theme of a room. Alternatively, old shutters and windows can also be used to make a unique folding screen by joining the shutters using sturdy hinges. The benefit of the folded screen is that it can be folded when you need to use the door.

An unused door can be converted to give an illusion of the window. If the door leads to the exterior, it is better not to block it. But if it leads to a room with several doors, one of the doors can be converted to an illusion window. The wall space in front of the window can be used to place the furniture and decorate a room more stylishly. This can be done by using the curtains and create a seating area by placing a comfortable long bench or chair and decorate it with a lamp and arranging the space with some DIY art and craft wall hangings.
