Upper part of kitchen cabinet may be the most unattended area in our house. Unless the cabinets extend to the ceiling, there would be some space above the cabinets. Most of the time we store the platters, baskets or excess vessels and boxes are stored on the upper part of the cabinet. Instead of storing these types of collections there are other ways to make the place beautiful like placing planters, vintage sieves, antique vessels or decorative vessels like earthenware pitchers or wall decors to make the space beautiful.

Add extra shelves: Small shelves or built in cubby holes can be added with some lightings to create a stylish spot in the kitchen. With small carpentry and paint work, a custom made stylish cubicles can be made and decorated with clay pots to enhance the look. These cubes can also be used to display those potteries that are collected from the travels or with items that need protection like antique glass vessels.
Add wine storage: The upper part of the wall above the fridge or upper cabinet area can be utilized to make a wine cellar. Install wine cubbies with a simple DIY project or use the readymade wine racks to hold your precious collection of wines.
Add sign boards: Styling the empty space with a perfect joyful antidote for the empty space is also a great idea. A distressed sign or a retro sign fills the nook and will act as a statement piece in the kitchen.
Add plants: If the height of the cabinets is lower, then green plants can be added in the space. Green plants are always inviting. Adding green place in the empty space and windowsill is an easy décor idea to choose. It watering the plant is a task; even a fake plant can also be used. Add art works: Adding graphic prints or black and white photographs will on the upper space is a great idea. Food themed art work can also be placed here.
Add paint: Styling the area above the cabinet can be made the easiest way by painting the wall with bright paint. The only requirement for decorating is a can of vibrant paint to make it pop up. This way of styling is easy and affordable; also the area can be defined with a color we may not use it normally anywhere else!
